Wear and Distress

These images show our: Regular Wear & Regular Distress
   * Heavy Wear & Heavy Distress: Double our Regular
   * Light Wear & Light Distress: Half our Regular
   * No Wear & No Distress: None

Wear is the way the piece is finished on the corners and the edges.
The pictures above show what “peeled paint” wear looks like.

Distressing is the little “dings”
applied throughout each piece.
Random placement.

See picture at left.

Stained finishes have no wear, only distress.

Most whites and Pastels, are sanded down to natural wood.

The picture at right, shows our "worn paint" application.

Back to Finishes

Our furniture is designed to look as though it has been around for years. We currently offer 30 finishes. While new, our pieces have a rich, worn, weathered feel, reflecting usage over time. We use the finest materials in our finishing department, and our team undergoes extensive training, so that we may produce the quality of furniture you have come to expect from us. All of our finishes are done by hand and reflect hours of hand rubbing. Finishes may vary somewhat, wood characteristics may vary considerably. For these reasons we are unable to guarantee an exact match. Each piece is hand finished with great care and thought to achieve it's own unique look. We sincerely hope you will appreciate our attention to detail, and enjoy our pieces for many years to come.

Natural signs of aging, nicks, scratches, such as season cracks, shrinkage, distressing are a normal part of this look. Nature is unique and never duplicates, making no two pieces of wood, even from the same tree, exactly alike. Slight color differences between pieces of a collection or even in one piece of furniture may be noticed. Natural stains, knots, wood grains and markings inherent to wood products are considered desirable features. They enhance the uniqueness and beauty of the furniture, and are not to be considered defects in our craftsmanship.

We make every effort to conceal the knots and grains on our painted finishes. However, due to natural resins within the knots and grains, we cannot completely eliminate them or guarantee to control them. Over time, some sooner than later, the knots and grains may bleed through and discolor the finish. This may be more apparent on light color finishes. This discoloration is not to be considered a defect in craftsmanship. Irregularities in the finishes are not to be considered defects. While our finishes are durable, they are not indestructible.

Do not use furniture polish that contains abrasives or ammonia. With our lacquer finishes, use only high grade furniture polish, and clean by putting the polish on a clean cloth, then wiping the furniture with the cloth. Never spray or apply furniture polish directly onto the furniture. We suggest  a writing pad to protect surfaces from scratches on the top of desks.  When moving furniture, always lift entire piece off floor before moving it. Do not push, pull or drag the furniture, damage may result.

group 1 = most stained finishes.
group 2 = painted finishes up to two different colors (painted / stained).
group 3 = striped finish, three or more different finishes, custom applications

We never use veneers, particleboard, fiberboard (MDF), or plywood. Never. Only real, solid wood is ever manufactured.
All furniture sealed and protected with clear, flat lacquer. All measurements taken at tallest, deepest, and widest dimensions.
